Soccer Dribble

When you're playing soccer, you'll be tough to beat…

If you know the skill, of dribbling with your feet!

So read these words carefully, I'll try not to scribble…

Today's your lucky day, as we learn the "Soccer Dribble"!

Use the inside of your foot, or kick with your shoelaces…

You'll start off kinda slow, but soon you're off to the races!

Keep the ball close to your body, it's easier to control….

Try to keep your head up, and don't use your toes!

Gradually, you're sure to improve, and you'll get a lot quicker…

When you learn the "Soccer Dribble", you'll be a better kicker!

FW: "Good Communication"

 One good skill to know,
Is the art of Good Communication...
It's exchanging one's thoughts and ideas,
And it results in clarification!

We'll need to listen closely,
And look at the one who speaks...
You might miss something important,
And catching-up might take weeks!

We'll need to speak clearly,
And use a proper tone...
You might need to speak-up,
Or you might be on the phone!

If you watch and observe closely,
You'll pick-up on non-verbal clues...
You'll soon begin to understand,
And respect other's point of view!

So if you want some good advice,
Than you should take it from me...
When you have Good Communication,
In the dark you'll no longer be!

The F.I.T.T. Principle

 If you wanna start exercising,
And keep it rather sensible...
Then you should take a moment,
And learn the F.I.T.T. Principle!

The "F" stands for FREQUENCY of exercise;
Most days of the week (at least five)...
You're taking positive steps,
To lead a more healthy life!

The "I" stands for INTENSITY of exercise;
Work at a rate that makes it hard to sing...
But not so intense,
That you can't say a thing!

The "T" is for TIME,
How many minutes per session...
(30-50 min.) is recommended,
Remember that as today's lesson!

The other "T" is for TYPE of activity;
It's important to choose something that's FUN...
It should work the major muscle groups,
And remember to tighten your buns!

So now you know the F.I.T.T. Principle,
Use it as you "make your plan"...
Coach A admires your effort,
He'll be the first to give you a hand!

" Independance Day "

Back in 1776, we won the "Revolutionary War"....
We celebrate "Independance Day" every year on July 4!

We'll have bar-b-ques and parades, and we'll fly our flag high....
Then later we'll watch a display, of fireworks in the sky!

As our families gather, everyone learns some manners...
Like standing still and being respectful,
When they play the "Star Spangled Banner"!

We'll have hot dogs and hamburgers, and lots of other snackers....
You might hear a pic-a-lo-pete, or even some fire-crackers!

It's a tribute to America, here in the land of the free.....
We'll celebrate "freedom", from sea to shining sea!

It's also a tradition, it's the American way....
To give our heatfelt thanks, on "Independance Day"!

" Civil War "

We are gathered here today, to re-enact a war….

So pay close attention, you're about to learn some more!

It was over a hundred years ago, around 1865…

America was in a "civil war", she was trying to survive!

It was the North against the South, the blue vs. the gray…

Four years of fighting, came down to one day!

The battle of Gettysburg, and the charge of General Pickett….

It would unite our Country; it must've been the ticket!

It was one fateful order, given by General Lee….

The North would prevail, soon all would be free!

Folks would say later, what the heck was he thinking?

"A more perfect union formed", would say President Lincoln!

Today you honor those soldiers, by marching and drilling….

You practice your jodies, and remember the killing!

More Americans were lost, than all other wars combined…

We paid a heavy price, with broken dreams left behind!

So thank you students, both present and past…

Your actions today, are how memories last!

We stand together now, as a tribute to that day….

In the land of the free, God Bless the U.S.A!

" Flag Day "

It was June 14, 1777, according to the story...
We celebrate Flag Day, to honor Ole Glory!

The very first flag, came courtesy of Betsy Ross...
It represents Liberty, regardless of the cost!

It stands for Hope, our star-spangled banner...
Respect it and Honor it, and treat it with manners!

Proper flag etiquette, says don't fly it at night...
But if you do, provide proper light!

No flag shall fly higher, & never fly it upside down...
And do all you can, so it won't touch the ground!

It's a symbol of freedom, the home of the brave...
The good ole Stars and Stripes, long may it wave!

" Make It As A Pro "

To reach the next level, you should know....
Certain things you'll need, to Make It As A Pro!

You'll have to get stronger, and get a little smarter....
You've gotta work hard, and be a self-starter!

Believe in yourself, and focus on your dream...
Get better everyday, it'll improve your self-esteem!

Most will lack discipline, they fail to pay the price....
They'll say they wanna succeed, but refuse to sacrifice!

The physical part is one thing, but let's be clear....
Most of "getting better", is right between your ears!

Recognize distractions, and don't lose that focus....
It's gonna take practice, it's not just hocus pocus!

If you put in the work, each and everyday...
it's only a matter of time, before things go your way!

Soon you'll see improvement, and your confidence will grow...
and you've just discovered, how to "make it as a pro"!

Now, some folks will work hard, and others have natural talents...
and if you have both, you've found a wonderful balance!

Coach A

"Self-Discipline"

If your behavior needs correcting, or you choose to break a rule…

You'll probably get disciplined, cuz that's not allowed in school!

We should expect orderly conduct, as YOU demonstrate self-control…

Then WE don't have to step in, and that should be your goal!

So if you practice Self-Discipline, you've taught yourself how to act….

You know how to behave, you're growing-up and learning tact!

Now, if the task at hand is tough, you might need to knuckle down…

You'll need to stay disciplined, so you won't lose any ground!

Yes, folks will be impressed, if intervention is'nt needed…

You know  rules are important, your habits have become deep-seated!

So, no more tantrums, and stop your whining….

We know you can do this, so step up and start shining!

" Memorial Day "

To honor our fallen heroes, we celebrate "Memorial Day"…

Ever since 1971, it's been on the last Monday in May!

We're grateful to our veterans, and to those we've lost…

Protecting our freedom, they paid the ultimate cost!

As symbols of respect, we place flowers and flags on their grave…

They laid their lives on the line, protecting the home of the brave!

They went out to conquer evil, is my recollection…

They served and sacrificed, as we pause in reflection!

Thank you to every service-person, for protecting us from harm…

There is no higher honor, than serving America under arms!

Thank you,

" Teaching "

May 11 was the Day of the Teacher... read on...

They say that "Teaching", is a noble profession...
So listen carefully, to a teacher's impression!

The teachers I know, are generous and caring...
They're all very bright, and they don't mind sharing!

They have high moral qualities, they're honorable and funny.....
They try to make a difference, cuz it's not about  the money!

They educate and mentor, and they model and guide...
They deserve your respect, cuz they're raising your child!

Good "Teaching" is a gift, it's somewhat of an art...
It takes love and patience, and someone with a big heart!

All of these qualities, fulfill a valuable need...
I think we can agree, that "Teaching" is noble indeed!

"National Day of Prayer"

The National day of Prayer, Is the first Thursday in May...
It's a good time to reflect, and be Thankful for the day!

Some folks pray to a "higher power", and some to the stars above...
When I put my hands together, I pray to the God of Love!

He offers us Hope and Inspiration, my Faith will never waver...
He sent His only Son, who asked only to "Love your neighbor"!

So I pray for His guidance ,in my walk with Jesus Christ...
Loving His Grace and Mercy, knowing my Lord is wise!

I pray "His will be done", believe me it's no bother...
He paid the ultimate price, the God of Love Our Father!

"Tips For Hiking"

Coach A says... To celebrate  "Earth Day", perhaps you should consider going on a hike instead of driving... read on...

There's a lot of good exercises, such as jogging or biking...
But listen closely, to some Tips For Hiking!

Hiking is really fun, so plan from the start...
and following these tips, would be really smart.

It's best to go hiking, early in the morning...
the afternoon gets too hot, just giving you a warning!

So put on some sunscreen, and remember a hat...
Drink plenty of water, and don't forget a map!

Nature is so beautiful, the foilage so frail...
Avoid the poison oak, and stay on the trail!

Watchout for snakes, and wear good shoes...
Nothing like a blister, to usher in the blues!

Make certain they allow dogs, some won't let 'em in...
If that is the case, than ask another friend!

Staying in good shape, should be to your liking...
Hope you're more comfy, with these Tips For Hiking!

"Learning How To Catch"

 A good rule of thumb,
Whether you're short or tall...
Is to stay "heads-up",
And keep your eye on the ball!

Give your partner a target,
your hands in front of your chest...
Keep the glove wide-open,
Cuz that's how it works best!

Receive the ball with "soft" hands,
It's sorta like catching an egg...
If you're in good position,
It won't hit you in the leg!

You should expect a bad throw,
So stay on the balls of your feet...
Your hands should be together,
as you watch the ball and glove meet!

Once you get the hang of it,
The fun is hard to match...
So always use two hands,
When Learning How To Catch!

Learning How To Throw

One skill needed for softball,
is Learning How To Throw...
So read these words from Coach,
He'll explain what you should know!

To throw the ball correctly,
hold your fingers across the seams...
It's not a minor detail,
It's more important than it seems!

Now point your glove towards your target,
As you make a quarter turn...
You're now in position to throw,
But there's a little more to learn!

As you take your arm back,
It should form an "L"...
fingers pointing away,
You're ready to let one sail!

Now aim towards your target,
As you step with your opposite shoe...
Go ahead, give it a try,
And remember to follow-thru!

Now you just need practice,
And your confidence will grow...
Soon you'll be teaching others,
About Learning How To Throw!

They work really well, just ask Dr Seuss!

Some are long and some short, and others wide or thin...
But hopefully all of them, will make you smile and grin!

Just pick a book you like, and you'll never lose your place...
Folks will admire you, and think you have good taste!

So good luck on your journey, from sea to shining sea...
And "Read Across America", with this bookmark for thee!

Dark Chocolate

Coach A says:  Happy Valentines Day!

It's quite alright, to have an occasional sweet....
the taste of "dark chocolate", is a smooth rich treat!

While high in calories, chocolate is also high in fat....
when used in moderation, we find an interesting stat!

Chocolate has "anti-oxidants", and upon their release....
they wipe-out "free-radicals", and those can cause disease!

It helps lower blood pressure,so it's worth consideration....
just remember "dark chocolate", is best in moderation!

Following this "healthy living tip", would be just dandy....
So practice self-control, when it comes to eating candy!

" A Boy Named Gage"

My hat goes off to our Mr. Rangel and his Philanthropic society
for helping others... and not expecting anything in return!  Read on...

Welcome ladies and gentlemen, can I have your attention please…

Today we gather together, to raise funds for someone in need!

The Philanthropic Society, here at C.F.I.S…

Has chosen a worthy cause, and "helping others" is their quest!

Mr. and Mrs. Churchill, and their little boy Gage…

Need our assistance, to help them turn the page!

Little Gage was diagnosed with leukemia, in August of 2010…

The treatments are expensive, a "helping hand" we can lend!

The Chemo makes him sick, so help us find a cure…

It'll help ease the pain, and help the family endure!

The money that is raised, will off-set the cost…

With "remission" as the goal, and to make-up for time lost!

So thank you one and all, from the bottom of my heart…

Your efforts should be praised, and that's a wonderful start!

FW: " Holiday Treats "

It happens every year, after a Thanksgiving feast...
we'll get a box of goodies, filled with "holiday treats"!

A gift from my Mother, because she loves to bake...
my stomach sorta growls, as I spot the carrot cake!

I snag a pecan sno-ball, and finger a macaroon....
I admire the almond clusters, as I hum a Christmas tune!

I see three loaves of bread, with cranberry, dates and zucchini...
don't forget the peanut-brittle, the fudge must be Houdini!

I like the little round ones, like chocolate covered Ritz...
I always love the "no-bake", every year they're big hits!

Packed together carefully, in a basket shaped like a heart...
tied together with Love, it's quite a piece of art!

So Thank you once again, we love you and you're sweet...
know you've made us happy, with your "holiday treats"!
